January birthdays

Today, we celebrated the birthdays for January. Rebecca and John blew out the candles on their cake and opened their presents.

Back to school!

On Monday, we went back to Chingola Basic School to find out what classes we are in this year and what time the lessons are. In Zambia, the school year is from January to December. Mercy is now in Grade 8 having passed her national Grade 7 exams with very good marks. Mayo (mother) paid school fees for Mercy and we discovered some of our classes and times for this term. It was decided that we would go back to school on Wednesday to see if lessons would start.

New Year's Eve

We invited some of our friends from Bethel Chapel, who come to sing on a Sunday night, to join us for some fun and games on New Year's Eve. There was Clara, Changwe, Harold, Jessie, Lydia and as usual Uncle Steve, Aunty Muriel, Uncle Phil, Aunty Deborah and Emily.
We played musical chairs, pass-the-parcel, musical numbers and some parachute games. We had bread rolls with egg and polony, crisps, chocolate marshmallows, pop corn and Coke which we enjoyed very much!

Matthews, Judie, Justin and Philip had their birthdays during December so we celebrated with them.
After tea, Uncle Steve played his guitar and we sang our favourite songs for an hour!
