March birthdays

We didn't have any birthdays in February, but in March there were four including our two house mothers. We celebrated in the usual way with cake, blowing out the candles and opening presents!

Learning the guitar

We recently received some second hand guitars. Some of the (keen) children have been having guitar lessons from Uncle Rob and are learning some of the basic chords.

The bike shed

Uncle Rob is visiting from the UK before he goes up to Nyamgombe next week. Uncle Phil asked him to build a wooden shed to put all the bikes in. He has made good progress and today some of the boys helped him build the front wall.

A good Friday

This Friday afternoon we went on the Ipusukilo bus to Amano for the afternoon to play on the swings and slides again. We also played football with Uncle Rob and netball. Auntie Deborah made us cakes and drinks which we enjoyed very much!
In the evening, after supper, we watched a movie on the wall called 'Jock of the Bushveld' which was good.

Football at Amano

Today, we planned to play football at Amano Christian School but the very heavy early rain continuing into the morning meant that playing outside wasn't going to be possible. Fortunately, the main hall was available so we were able to play inside. We played in five-a-side teams and kept going for 6 matches, we did very well, winning most of the games and drawing one. It was a fun morning out for everyone.  Many thanks to Amano for hosting this event!
